7 FARMER FIELD FACILITATORS/EXTENSION SUPPORT OFFICERS

Key Responsibilities 

- Training and Capacity Building: Providing training on new farming practices, such as aquaculture and aquaponics, and value addition techniques to reduce post-harvest losses.

- Community Engagement: Participating in mobilization activities to reach targeted numbers of participants, and conducting parent's meetings to keep them informed.

- Mentorship and Support: Offering agricultural extension services, mentorship, and handholding support to ensure sustainability.

- Data Collection and Reporting: Collecting and reporting data, preparing reports, and maintaining records.

- Project Implementation: Overseeing fieldwork, managing budgets, and coordinating with local representatives and community members.

- Farmer Empowerment: Facilitating farmer registration, developing producer organizations, and conducting internal assessments.

- Logistics and Coordination: Planning and implementing training events, managing logistics, and securing permissions from local community leaders.

- Problem-Solving and Troubleshooting: Addressing issues that arise during fieldwork and finding solutions.




Main Responsibilities


- Advisory Services: Offer advice on crop management, pest control, soil health, and irrigation to help farmers make informed decisions.

- Training and Workshops: Conduct educational programs and workshops to introduce farmers to new techniques and technologies, enhancing their skills and knowledge.

- Community Engagement: Build strong relationships with farming communities to understand their needs and challenges, providing tailored support.

- Research and Development: Collaborate with research institutions to ensure scientific advancements reach the grassroots level, benefiting farmers.

- Policy Implementation: Assist in implementing government policies and schemes aimed at agricultural development.


Key Activities:


- Farmer Empowerment: Build the capacity of individual farmers and farmer institutions to access and control resources, achieving their goals.

- Demonstrations and Training: Demonstrate land preparation, planting, crop management, animal management, post-harvest handling, value addition, and marketing.

- Data Collection and Analysis: Collect and analyze data related to agricultural practices, yields, and farmer demographics to identify challenges and develop solutions.

- Problem-Solving: Provide practical solutions to address issues related to pests, diseases, weather conditions, market fluctuations, and socio-economic factors affecting farmers

7 IRRIGATION TECHNICIANS

Key Responsibilities

1. Installation and maintenance: Installing, maintaining, and repairing irrigation systems, including pipes, pumps, and sprinklers.

2. System design: Designing irrigation systems tailored to specific crop needs, soil types, and climate conditions.

3. Water management: Optimizing water use, reducing waste, and preventing overwatering or underwatering.

4. Troubleshooting: Identifying and resolving issues with irrigation systems, such as leaks, clogs, or pump problems.

5. Crop monitoring: Monitoring crop health and adjusting irrigation schedules accordingly.

6. Water conservation: Implementing water-saving strategies and promoting sustainable irrigation practices.


Skills and Qualifications

1. Technical knowledge: Understanding of irrigation systems, hydraulics, and water management principles.

2. Problem-solving: Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex irrigation system issues.

3. Communication: Effective communication with farmers, agronomists, and other stakeholders.

4. Physical stamina: Ability to work in various weather conditions and perform physical tasks.

 Key Roles

2. Advising farmers: Providing expert advice on input selection, usage, and application to help farmers make informed decisions.

3. Assisting with product selection: Helping farmers choose the right products for their specific needs and crops.

4. Handling transactions: Processing sales, handling payments, and managing inventory.

5. Maintaining shop operations: Ensuring the shop is well-organized, clean, and stocked with necessary inputs.

6. Financial administration: Assisting with financial tasks, such as bookkeeping, invoicing, and payment processing.

7. Compliance: Ensuring the cooperative complies with relevant laws, regulations, and standards.

2. Filing: Maintaining physical and digital files, ensuring easy access to information.

2. Supporting research and experimentation: Assisting scientists, researchers, or other staff with experiments and projects.

3. Providing general support: Helping with daily tasks and operations within the greenhouse.


Other Responsibilities
